TERROIR OF ELEGANCE
The lieu-dit is a well-defined geographical and climatic wine-growing area which gives the wine its particular characteristics. The “lieux-dits” are some of our best terroirs, producing rich, complex wines to accompany elaborate cuisine.

Mühlforst is a locality nestling in the heart of Ribeauvillé’s famous geological fault field. The vineyards that stretch over the hillside between Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr are distinguished by their deep soils composed of chalky marl resting on a substrate of Muschelkalk (shell limestone).
These favourable conditions allow us to produce wines of great density, with a full-bodied structure that imparts tension, while also expressing a pleasant fruit profile.

A LAND OF MILLS
The evocative name “Muhlforst”, derived from the Alsatian word “Mühle” meaning “water mill”, breathes a unique atmosphere into this wine-growing region.
In the past, the Mühlforst area may have been criss-crossed by water mills, bearing witness to a time when these buildings may have been present. Today, however, none of these structures remain, giving way to a thriving vineyard and a winegrowing landscape that has evolved over time.
THE GRAPE VARIETIES PRESENT
At the Cave de Ribeauvillé, the Mühlforst is dedicated exclusively to the production of Riesling, embodying the passion and know-how devoted to this grape variety on this particular terroir.
